Self-care online and the whole idea of “doing self-care” can feel exhausting sometimes.
Somewhere along the way it became less about simple little rituals and more about full evenings carved out of the diary, 10 step expensive skincare, fancy bubble baths with all the bells and whistles, spotless homes and perfectly aesthetic routines. Everything looks slow, calm and pristine all the time.
And maybe that is reality for some people. But certainly, it’s not for me.
Most days I’m juggling work, home, motherhood, messages I forgot to reply to, laundry I forgot to move, and trying to remember if I actually drank any water that day or just survived of coffee.
So I started thinking about self-care differently. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment to relax, I try to find smaller moments throughout the day that make life feel softer, calmer or less “always on.”
Sitting down to actually enjoy my coffee instead of throwing it into a takeaway cup while rushing out the door. Simply relaxing my shoulders while standing at the cooker and taking a few slow breaths instead of staying stuck in that constant 'rush, rush, rush' feeling. Doing my evening reset so I wake up to a calmer space in the morning and quietly thank myself for it later.
I think that’s really what Bo&Rey is about. Not creating some perfect lifestyle that only exists online, but helping people create small moments in their real everyday lives that feel comforting, grounding and a little luxurious in the middle of all the chaos.
Because sometimes self-care is just remembering that you’re allowed to slow down for five minutes.
